WELCOME to Team WEEPIGGIES
EVERY new mother has been impacted by the work of March of Dimes
Their campaigns are known worldwide: their fight to eradicate Polio, folic acid awareness to prevent neural defects and their longstanding campaign to fight premature birth.
The Torres Family & Lisa’s Wee Piggies welcomes you to walk with us and join us to raise money and help all babies be born healthy. We thought the March of Dimes would be the perfect charity to introduce our children to. Not only does it coincide with my business of casting adorable little fingers and toes, but we have directly benefitted from the success of the March of Dimes.
This year’s ambassador is Karina Torres, our third child, born March 23, 2005.
She was admitted to the Sacred Heart NICU the morning she was to come home with us.
She suffered from breathholding spells and irregular brain wave activity and diagnosed with seizures. She came home five days later. For her first month, we administered seizure medication. At one month old, her brain scans were normal and for the two months that followed we weaned her off the medication. She turns three years old this month and is a healthy, beautiful, happy little girl.
We feel lucky and blessed that there were no other symptoms or complications associated with her growth and development. Other families are not so fortunate. My heart went out to the other families that shared the NICU with Karina for that week. Most were half her size!! It is my hope that with your help we can help raise money for a charity that does make a difference in local family lives!

This is a family friendly event and our family of five will all be out there! So bring your stroller, wagon, or take your children by the hand and walk with us! We’d LOVE to have you!
