2024 Ambassador Family

The Muro Espinoza Family

We are so excited to announce our 2024 DuPage March for Babies Ambassador Family: The Muro/Espinoza Family! At 20 weeks, Gabriela Espinoza was admitted to the hospital with complications shortly after a routine ultrasound. Soon after, she was released and able to return home. Gabriela’s water broke a week later, and she spent two weeks in the hospital, giving birth on December 8, 2022 to Paloma and Xiomara. With great sadness, Paloma passed away seven minutes later, while Xiomara spent the next 147 days in the UChicago AdventHealth Hinsdale Hospital NICU. Xiomara was eventually able to return home with her family with the use of oxygen. Xiomara is a now a happy, healthy little girl who is no longer receiving oxygen treatments, and continues to participate in regular physical and occupational therapy. She enjoys spending time with her parents, and two older brothers. The Muro/Espinoza family expressed, “My family and I have had a lot of support from the hospital, doctors, nurses and medical staff. March of Dimes has allowed us connect with family and support groups. Being an Ambassador Family allows us to spread awareness about infant loss, our NICU journey, and it gives us a therapeutic outlet to share our sad, but amazing story.”
