Once again an opportunity is here, to support research that will someday prevent some of the premature births in our country. My work week involves contact with families whose babies fill our NICU's. Every year, half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely; this is 1 in 8 !!. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives.
At Shands, we also provide direct support services to families whose babies are in the NICU.
