My Family was touched by March of Dimes in a very special delivery. My sister gave birth 18 weeks early to her 3rd child Jeffrey Thomas Hammond who was born on January 9, 2005 at 1 pound and 13 ounces. He was 13 inches in length. Jeffrey being the only boy out of 6 Nieces, he is our Miracle Child. He had to stay in the hospital for 3 months. He got to go home on March 10 weighing a little over 4 pounds. By April 15 he was weighing in right at 7 pounds. Today Jeffrey is a vibrant 3 year old. He was founded to have a slight case of Cerebral Palsy, which affected the right side of his body. He receives Botox injections to help stretch his leg muscle. He wears braces on his feet to help him walk flat footed, but this does not slow him down none. With both my sisters husbands being in the Military and constantly moving every year I don't get to see them that often. But we do make it a point to get together every Christmas. I consider my family very fortunate to have March of Dimes in our lives. With out them, Little Jeffrey may not be with us.
