Today in the U.S., 1 in every 8 babies will be born prematurely. Some of them won't survive, and others will have health problems that could last a lifetime. The funds we raise in March for Babies support research that saves babies' lives. Zachary, who was born 5 1/2 weeks premature, received care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which was developed from research by the March of Dimes. Zack, now a 17 year old at Fair Lawn High School, is a past North Jersey Ambassador for the March of Dimes. He still has various developmental delays. He and his brother Brad, received the 2006 Brunguard Award for Youth Fundraising. He has appeared at various fundraising events, been interviewed on WPLJ NY radio (with Scott and Todd in the Morning and had a song dedicated to him for the cause on Race Taylor's show) and more recently with from his new best buddy, Jeff Miles, the lunchtime DJ on WPLJ! . Zack attended the NJ Jackals March of Dimes night (he even threw out the first pitch with Jim Bouton), was interviewed in the January 2006 issue of the Parent Paper, and had in previous years appeared in a News12 NJ Public Service Announcement. The town of Fair Lawn, where we live, even made a proclamation for ZACHARY STEIN DAY for his work with the March of Dimes 3 years in a row! He and his younger brother Bradley (with Mom and Dad) are great supporters of the cause and enjoy helping others along the way! Due to the kindness of our friends and families we have raised money and awareness for the cause--over $2000 in 2005 and over $3,000 in 2006, 2007 and even $1500 2008!! We took a break in 2009 but came back strong in 2010 and 2011 with over $1750! We are asking for your help in 2012. Zack's delays are long lasting, but with your help, we can work together to help further the research for prematurity! Join the ZACK PACK and Donate today, any amount will help further our goal!
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
