Joshua was born 16 weeks early. When I was 18 weeks pregnant, my water broke. Lucky for us, I didn't go into labor. I was on bedrest at home for 6 weeks and was supposed to stay in the hospital the remaining 12 weeks. I was in the hospital for only 3 days when for some unknown reason, I went into labor. Joshua was born on June 7th, 2006. He was 1lb. and 1/2 an oz., and 12 in. long. He lived for almost 12 hours. The doctors do not know why my water broke so early or why I went into labor at 24 1/2 weeks into my pregnancy.
Two years ago, I formed this March for Babies team in our son Joshua's name to raise money to help all babies be born healthy. I want help others who might go through the things that my husband and I went through with Joshua, and to help find ways to prevent premature birth so that others do not have to go through such a heart breaking ordeal.

The money we raise helps fund research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies'' health today.
Can you think of anything more important than the health of our babies? If you can''t join us, please donate to our team from this page. It''s fast, easy and secure.
