Joshua was born 16 weeks early. When I was 18 weeks pregnant, my water broke. Lucky for us, I didn't go into labor. I was on bed rest at home for 6 weeks and was supposed to stay in the hospital the remaining 12 weeks. I was in the hospital for only 3 days when for some unknown reason, I went into labor. Joshua was born on June 7th, 2006. He was 1lb. and 1/2 an oz., and 12 in. long. He lived for almost 12 hours. The doctors do not know why my water broke so early or why I went into labor at 24 1/2 weeks into my pregnancy.
I'm proud to say that this is the 4th year for Joshie's Legacy! Our March for Babies Family Team is our way of honoring his short life. It is my purpose to help his life continue to be meaningful even beyond the veil of death.
I'm excited that our newest family addition, Abigail, will be joining us this year! For me, it is important for Abby, and other children which may come to our family to know that they have an older brother and that his life has meaning. We do this by raising money to help all babies be born healthy. I want to help others who might go through the things that my husband and I went through with Joshua, and to help find ways to prevent premature birth so that others do not have to go through such a heart breaking ordeal.
Please join us in this important endeavor. Simply sign up from this page. You can join our team and help raise money, you can donate yourself, or you can find a walk in your area and walk in Joshie's name there!
The money we raise helps fund research to find out why premature birth happens and what can be done to prevent it. Premature birth is the #1 cause of newborn death and the biggest threat to babies'' health today.
Can you think of anything more important than the health of our babies? If you can''t join us, please donate to our team from this page. It''s fast, easy and secure.
