Every year, a half million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives.
Our son, Jeffrey, was born 10 and a half weeks premature. With the diligence and care of the staff at the Golisano Children's Hospital NICU, he is here with us today, strong and healthy. Born at only 2 lbs 12 oz, he was a fighter from the start.
Jeffrey's two years old now. He's graduated from the NICU follow-up program AND early intervention services. We're very proud of him! It's been a long road, but we've had so many supportive people along the way to lend their guidance, advice and talents.
March of Dimes' research helps to find and eliminate the causes of premature birth and defects, because every baby deserves to be healthy.
