WE WALK AGAIN IN HONOR OF LUCAS AND SOPHIA, AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF EMMA CHRISTINE (12/8/04-12/16/04).
WE'RE BACK!!!!! New location (Indianapolis), but still another year, another set of milestones reached. Lucas and Sophia are 4 now, and are in preschool. They have grown so much physically, emotionally and socially. They definitely keep us laughing with their huge vocabularies and quirky senses of humor. You would never believe it seeing them now that they were so tiny. Lucas has gone from 1 lb. 11.oz and 13 inches at birth to 42 lbs. and 41 3/4 inches at 4 years old. Sophia went from 1 lb. 9 oz. and 12 inches ast birth to 40.5 lbs and 41 1/2 inches at 4years. They are caught up developmentally, and are far ahead in vocab, emotional intelligence, and cuddling (hey, it's an important category!:)
You know what we came from (a brief overview - 24 weekers - that means they were 16 weeks premature, oxygen, monitors, various medications, surgeries, stroke and seizures, and 16+ weeks in the NICU), and now we are celebrating where we are now, and remembering the grief, fear, exhaustion, sadness, and anxiety that we lived with due to prematurity. We are hoping to raise money so that the families who have premature babies can have the exceptional care and support that we had, and in hopes that research will prevent other families and babies from having this experience at all.
The March of Dimes has changed the name of its biggest event to March for Babies. It's a great change because it makes it very clear exactly who I am walking for -- all babies. I am very excited to be a part of the “first” March for Babies; please support my participation.
Although the name of this signature event changed, the mission did not. The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.
