Our son Connor was born by emergency c-section on December 12th 2007, 8 weeks premature, weighing only 3lbs 8oz 17.5'' long. He is now a healthy 2 years old, but I will never forget the time when he was in the NICU as my precious little fighter.
I never realized before the day I was wheeled in to see him for the first time, exactly how many families and babies are touched by premature births at any given moment. Statistics show that one in every eight babies will be born premature each year. Millions of families will be touched by they're early arrivals. But with help from the March of Dimes, these families will have hope & support all around them while they're children are in intensive care.
That's where we come in! A lot of the research and advocacy that March for Babies push for would not be possible with out fundraising! These are a few of the things March of Dimes is working on right now...
...supporting all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
...educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
...provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
...push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children.
