Our hearts ache after miscarriages, premature births and a stillborn, our mission is still very evident in our lives and the lives of our friends. Walking for the March of Dimes is a great cause and it truly hits home again this year but there's more to it than that, it's a way for the parents to have their babies live on and serve a greater purpose although they are physically not here with us.
Please be generous and share what you can to help, March of Dimes supports all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects, they provide education and assistance to pregnant women in efforts to help them have a healthy baby.
<< Message from our March for Babies walk 2009:
As most of you know I gave birth to a PREMATURE baby on September 23rd, 2009 and the first two weeks of her life were the hardest time IN MY LIFE. NO Mother should ever be discharged from the hospital and have to leave their baby behind, while wondering what was going to happen while home recovering. I cried non-stop for those days that she was in the NICU, I was terrified everytime my phone rang that the doctors had bad news. I saw her hooked up to a feeding tube, IV's (even in her head), monitors everywhere and her feet were bruised and completely black from all the blood they had to take. I was heart broken having to leave her everyday and go home long enough to rest. I felt so helpless and lost; I couldn't even care for my own child. I don't ever want another parent to feel the way we did. I know that my association with March of Dimes won't completely end premature births, birth defects and the loss of a baby HOWEVER, I am going to do the best I can to support the organizations that were so good to us and hope others do the same.
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
