October 2006 my daughter-in-law, Jessica, and my son, Patrick, learned of her first pregnancy. In November she found out she was carrying twins. In January it was determined the twins were a boy and a girl. Jessica and Patrick named the babies William Robert "Beau" and Haley Brooke. On February 3, 2007, Beau and Haley were stillborn. It was the 21st week of the pregnancy. Since that tragic day, our family joined the March of Dimes and the efforts to prevent premature births and supporting the goal to give every baby a healthy start. Jessica and Patrick are blessed with a son who was born on Mother's Day 2008. Nolan Jeffrey was carried for a full term pregnancy and born very healthy and very happy. We are thankful for the support and research provided by March of Dimes and their sponsors, volunteers and community leaders.

I've joined March for Babies because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will help:
- support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children
