As another year goes by, I can't help but think about how blessed we are to have Kaycie in our lives. What a beautiful little girl she has become!
In July of 2008, our beautiful twin girls, Kaycie & Rylee were born at just 28 weeks. Kaycie weighed 2lb. 4oz. & 13 1/2 in. long. Rylee came into the world weighing only 8oz. & 8 1/2 in. long. The Doctors had told us that Rylee was too small for the lines & machines which would help her to survive. So while we held Rylee in our arms, Kaycie was rushed away to the NICU before we could even see her.
Rylee continued to fight for her life for the next 15 1/2 hours! How blessed we were, to be able to spend time with Rylee & share her with our friends & family before she passed away. While lying by Kaycie′s side, Rylee left the world the very next day. I am still finding it very difficult to cope with such a tragic loss. Rylee will be forever in all of our hearts.
Kaycie spent the next 3 months in the NICU clinging to life before she was well enough, and big enough to come home. Kaycie came home weighing 5lb. 4oz. & without the aid of monitors or oxygen. Today, Kaycie is thriving! She is still dealing with a few preemie issues, but for the most part, she happy & healthy! Kaycie is a survivor, as well as my Hero!
