As you may or may not know, on June 2, 2008 our daughter Molly was born at 29 weeks. Her weight bottomed out at 2 lbs 4 ounces and after just over 2 months in Yale's Newborn Intensive Care Unit she was able to come home. Molly survived being on a ventilator, brain bleed, septal defect, jaundice, etc. (all “Normal" preemie diagnosis). We consider ourselves “lucky" as Molly avoided surgeries and blood transfusions, which several of our friends babies from the NICU had to endure.

Today Molly is a normal thriving 5 ½ year old.

Amy and I are truly grateful to all of the doctors and nurses and the research that has occurred in the past. Our involvement with the March for Babies is a way to show our appreciation and pay it forward. If Molly was born even a decade ago the outcome may have been very different. Unfortunately, not all of the babies survive (as several of our friends from the NICU lost their kids while we were there).

Thanks in advance for your consideration,

Amy, Molly, Josh and Evan Cooper

The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

Your gift will support March of Dimes research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.
