Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.
My beautiful baby boy Jacob was born 3 months early on January 6, 2009 at 2 lbs, 13.5 inches due to my complications with HELP Syndrome. He spent about 2.5 months in the St. Joe's NICU. His big challenge, as with many preemies, was his lungs. He was on and off ventilators the first month of his stay. Once he finally came off the ventilator, there was no looking back for him. He became stronger each day. Jacob is the toughest little baby that I have ever know. He is now a happy, healthy (very active!) one year old!
The care that he received from the NICU doctors, nurses, and staff was amazing. They saved his life! I truly believe that their attention to the small details has directly affected his outstanding development this first year of his life.
I support the March of Dimes for their commitment to updated care for premature infants and prevention of premature birth for mothers and babies.
