Lily & Eli were both born six weeks, and six days early, despite being three years, two months, and two days apart. Lily spent 18 days in the hospital, and Elijah spent 28. As hard as that was for us, both times around... Our kids were both very fortunate. They were both breathing on their own within 24 hours of their birth, and they both left the hospital weighing more than their birth weight.

I feel so blessed that my children were born healthy... But there are some babies that have too many complications, and they never make it home. I am walking in memory of those babies, and in hopes that some day, our little steps will bring big smiles. I have faith that one day, all babies will be born healthy, and their parents will be able to bring them home.

The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
