Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm walking in March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.
As you all know, McKenna was one of these babies, born too early, born too small. Kim has done this walk several times, never knowing that her pregnancy would be cut short, and that the March of Dimes would become so much more important to all of us.
We are extremely fortunate that McKenna is doing so well. Many babies born early have problems, some that last a lifetime. We will walk to help prevent other families from having to go through this emotional experience, and also in thanks and celebration for McKenna's continued progress.
We would love to have a large team walking together. It will be a fun day. McKenna will have her stroller decked out with balloons and signs. We are hoping to have matching T-shirts for the team members.
If you decide to join us in walking, when you sign up, the default is the walk at Metro Beach on Sunday, April 25th. The other walk we are going to do is the day before, Saturday, April 24th at One City Square in Warren. Both events have registration beginning at 8 am, with the walk starting at 9am-both walks are 6 miles long. When Kim has walked, she was usually done between 11am and noon.
These walks are inspirational but very fun too! There are snacks and drinks provided by sponsors along the way along with some theme areas where you might get stickers, bead necklaces, candy, etc. This is a family friendly event, so bring the whole family!
