This is the 5th year we've been involved with the March for Babies. With the help of amazing friends, family listeners of 100.7 The Bay, we've raised over $100,000 for a cause that is SO very important to us.
Just over 4 years ago my wife and I were living in a Ronald McDonald House in DC while our daughter Alana was recovering from an emergency surgery that was performed on just her 2nd day of life. Alana was born with a life threatening birth defect called EA/TEF (esophagus not connected to her stomach). Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esophageal_atresia
Alana would not be released from the hospital until 4 months later. Her condition comes with other complications as well. I won't go through the complete list. Let's just say that we have a lot of doctors appointments!
Alana has needed 8 surgeries in her 4 years of life. You would never know it if you have ever had the pleasure of meeting her. Alana has an incredible spirit and is able to march with us (and you) May 3rd.
To be blunt, without the March Of Dimes efforts, our daughter may not be with us today. In fact, there is still no known cure for Alana's or 70% of all birth defects. We want to change that, and we need your help.
We'd love to invite all family members, friends, and 100.7 The Bay listeners to walk with us in the March for Babies, May 3rd.
If you cannot walk, making a secure donation is easy: just click the 'donate now' button on this page. Thank you for helping me give Alana and ALL babies a healthy start.
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
