Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. I'm supporting March for Babies because I want to do something about this. And I need your help.
As some of you may know, Dean and Sam were born at almost 34 weeks. When the boys were delivered by emergency c-section, we found out Dean was an abruption and ingested quite a bit of blood and fluid. They were both sent to the Neonatal intensive care unit for immediate care. It was a difficult time for us. Not only were we dealing with low birth weight babies, Dean at 4 lbs 6 oz and Sam at 3 lbs 3 oz, we worried about a host of other health issues.
Dean and Sam spent the next three weeks in NICU and received the best care I could have asked for. The nurses were honest and encouraging. Although it seemed like an eternity to be away from our babies, we knew it was what they needed to survive and thrive.
At two years old, you would not be able to tell that Dean and Sam were premature babies. We have so many people to thank for that, especially the March of Dimes.
