The March of Dimes has changed the name of its biggest event to March for Babies. It's a great change because it makes it very clear exactly who I am walking for -- all babies. I am very excited to be a part of the March for Babies; please support my participation.
The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.
I am walking in honor of my son, Bailey Christopher Leichty. He was born at 36 weeks 4 days due to my high blood pressure. He was kept in the NICU for three weeks after his birth. He was born with a low apgar score, problems breathing and was having seizures. While in the NICU he was also found to have a heart condition. He will be two on March.6th. He was recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He is a strong boy and I am honored to be walking for him.
I am also walking in memory of my baby that was taken to heaven too early. Mommy never met you, but you are thought about often.
And of course walking for my daughter Leslie, who knows how to drive me crazy but is the best daughter I could ask for.
