Every year, half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives.
We have personal experience with premature birth. Our son, Will, was born at 24 weeks. He struggled and fought for nearly 3 months, but eventually succumbed to the many complications of his early arrival. Our son, Edward, also came early, but he was strong right away and quickly overcame that five-week deficit. Daniel, born just this January, also came early, but he, too, has been healthy and is growing strong.
Please join us in the fight against prematurity by walking, sponsoring our walk or simply offering support.
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
