It's that time again! March for Babies 2013 will be here before you know it. We hope you can join us in the walk this year!
Alana was born with a life threatening birth defect, EA/TEF. Alana's trachea was abnormally connected to her esophagus and her esophagus was not connected to her stomach. This required surgery at 2 days old in order for her to survive. She stayed in the hospital for 4 months following surgery to recover and learn to eat. Alana was also born with other health issues, including birth defects of her heart and lungs, which have required 6 surgeries so far, and another procedure this month. You'd never know it by looking at her though! Alana is a happy, energetic, spunky, little 3 year old girl who reminds all of us that LIFE is just so precious.
Alana, and many of the other families and babies we have met in our journey, is the reason why we support the March of Dimes and their mission to improve the health of all babies. We walk to prevent other families from having to go through all that we have with Alana in just 3 years. We walk because seeing all of the people out on an early Saturday morning, joining together for one cause, supporting each other, and showing how much they care, is so comforting and exciting for our family.
It would be awesome if you all could join us! Sign up to join our team, raise money, and walk with us in April. If you can't walk with us, you can also donate to support our efforts.
Keep your fingers crossed for another sunny, warm walk this year!
Thank you so much!
