Imagine the size of a poppy seed. When Jon and Jacque first found out we were pregnant this was the size of our baby. It is truly amazing that a baby grows and develops from this tiny size. Unfortunately many babies struggle to make it to a healthy birth. This was the case with our first son who we lost at 22 weeks gestation due to neural tube defects on August 27th, 2009. Every child born is truly a miracle.
After much agony we decided to expand our family again. Our second son Elton Fischer Hazelwood was born on August 30, 2010. Elton is the pride and joy of our lives. He too has experienced neural tube defects, although thankfully his were repaired with surgery when he was 9 month old. Elton is now 18 months old and is living an exuberant life.
We will walk in the March for Babies in remembrance of our son lost and in celebration of Elton. We hope to raise money to continue the Mission of the March of Dimes to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
Please help support babies everywhere and Team Poppyseed with a donation. Thank you for helping us give all babies a healthy start!
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
