Tucker Matherly

After undergoing surgery 3 years ago to remove a tumor on her ovary, Shanna and her husband put the idea of getting pregnant far from their minds. God had a plan. She became pregnant with twins in 2016 but lost Baby B at 11 weeks gestation. This miscarriage caused complications for both Shanna and Baby A and she was admitted to Wilkes Medical Center when her water broke at 20 weeks. Tucker Clayton Matherly was born via emergency C-Section at just 27 weeks, weighting 3lbs. 2 oz. and measuring 14.7 inches. Tucker spent 66 days in the NICU and is now a perfectly healthy 2 year old thanks to God, family, doctors, nurses, and organizations like March of Dimes who make a difference in the research and information for premature births.
