My name is Britani D’Alie and not only am I Mrs. Wisconsin United States 2015 but I am proud to call Racine County “home”. My personal March of Dimes experience began a bit differently than most would expect. In 2012 and only eight weeks into our second pregnancy, our family’s world was turned upside down when we learned that the baby I was carrying had no heartbeat; I would eventually have a miscarriage 4 weeks later. During this time, I felt that there was little support offered; until I came across the March of Dimes. They provided me with materials and support, as well as the opportunity to share our story. I quickly learned that there were other people out there who understood the grief we were experiencing. They understood that love begins at the moment you see two pink lines on a pregnancy test and they believe that every child is precious. During this time the March of Dimes, along with the grace of God was providing me with hope. With that new found hope and strength, I knew that I needed to pay it forward. I created Skylar’s S.T.A.R. (Surviving a Tragedy that’s Always Remembered) in honor of our angel baby and since have been able to bring hope, inspiration and light to other mothers and families experiencing the loss of a child. The dedication and goodness that March of Dimes provides to families is incredible and I am forever indebted to them for that. Thank you all for supporting the March of Dimes in honor of a baby that has in one way or another touched your heart. Join me in supporting March for Babies because I believe every baby deserves a fighting chance.
