Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

We're getting ready to walk in March for Babies! It promises to be a fun day out with people who share our passion for improving the health of babies. There'll be family teams, company teams and people walking with friends - it's a great feeling knowing we're all helping real families. The Wagner Family

In 2011, we were overwhelmed with joy to learn that we were expecting a baby. But at exactly 34 weeks into the pregnancy, Kim went into sudden labor, and our son Elliott was born via c-section on March 4, 2012. At 6 weeks premature, he weighed only 5 lbs, 6 oz., and was just 16 1/2 inches long. He was struggling to breathe, and after just a quick glance, he was whisked off to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Finley Hospital. Throughout that Sunday night and early Monday morning we were hopeful that we could remain in Dubuque, but his breathing worsened. Elliott was placed on a ventilator and he was transferred via ambulance to Iowa City. Those 25 days in the NICU were some of the longest days of our lives as Elliott battled respiratory distress, feeding issues, jaundice, and temperature control. On March 29, 2012 we brought Elliott home– wire and tube free! Elliott is now almost 5, and is doing beautifully. We are incredibly grateful to the March of Dimes for all their research on prenatal care, surfactant therapy and NICU best practices. Without their work, our story could have had a very different ending. We are also thankful for our second son Anderson, who was born full-term and healthy in 2014. We are excited to be serving as the 2017 Dubuque March for Babies Ambassador Family, and to be giving back to a foundation that has given us so much. Sharing our story will help bring awareness to the importance of the March of Dimes and their mission, while also raising essential funds to support their life-saving research. We are looking forward to our fifth year of leading our family team “March Fourth” for March for Babies. Nathaniel, Kimberly, Elliott and Anderson Wagner
