Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES
Nearly 4 million babies are born in the U.S. every year, and each one needs us. The money you raise will be a lifeline for moms and babies near you and across the country. Join us at the Danbury walk in support of moms at every stage from preconception to post-delivery with research, programs and education - and it comes together with a celebration at March for Babies on Sunday, April 29, 2018. DESCRIPTION: March for Babies Danbury will be held at Rogers Park and our hub is at the playground. The route is a 5K out and back on paved roads and sidewalks. The route starts on Lions Way, turns on to Coalpit, to South St. and up Main St., looping around at the Danbury Library and continuing back down Main St./Memorial Drive ending at Rogers Park playground on Lions Way. Comfortable athletic running or walking sneakers are highly recommended. Strollers and dogs are welcome. Back by popular demand are the Superhero Sprint, petting zoo, DJ, touch-a-truck, arts and crafts, and a bounce house!

Hurricane Devyn

After several weeks of bedrest, Audra and Steven Currier’s daughter was born five weeks early. Devyn’s life began in a Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Devyn was born on May 31, 2014 weighing 4 pounds and 14 ounces. Immediately after being delivered by C-section, she was whisked away by the nurses with blood on her brain, pneumonia, two collapsed lungs and a hole in her heart. Staying in a NICU is a terrifying experience for new parents. Once your baby is stabilized, it is a constant up and down filled with monitors, procedures and tests while parents anxiously await the day they can leave the hospital with their baby. For the Currier Family, it was five weeks later on July 4 when their little fire cracker, Devyn, came home! Today, Devyn is a happy, smart, funny, compassionate child with no complications. The Currier family is grateful to March of Dimes research that helped save their child’s life.
