The McLean Family

The McLean Family served as our 2020 Atlanta March for Babies Ambassador Family. On March 27, 2017, their son, Tristan Kamau McLean, was born at 24 weeks 2 days gestation. They referred to him as their quiet warrior (the meaning of his middle name). Unfortunately, Tristan developed NEC and succumbed to his condition at 32 days old and lost his battle with life. As you can imagine, the McLean's were devastated. Tiffany's spoke of the perinatal team who supported her for weeks on inpatient bedrest before Tristan’s arrival. They helped her reach 24 weeks after her contractions started at about 19 weeks. They knew Tristan received the best NICU care from his nurses. They explained how thankful they are for the way they looked after our little boy and the support they provided us as NICU parents. March of Dimes researchers are working to find the cause of complications like NEC, so that other parents won’t have to experience what they did. They support this cause to give Moms and Babies a better chance. The McLean's got pregnant again and delivered a healthy baby girl, Tatum in 2020. They have experienced the absolute tragedy of losing their first born and the unspeakable joy of bringing healthy baby, Tatum, into this world. See Tatum's adorable photo.
