The NICU has always held a special place in my heart. It’s where I started my nursing career. The babies I cared for shaped who I am today and I’m forever grateful for my time there. It was an honor to be able to care for babies when they needed help the most and I still think about those babies everyday. I learned so much from some of the smartest and compassionate nurses and NPs I’ve ever met.
But last July, the NICU became even more special to me, when Lucy was born. She spent 33 days in the same NICU that I used to work in. It was surreal to see the unit from a patient side instead of the nurse. Even though she was a “feeder grower” and wasn’t sick, we are still very appreciative of all the help from the staff and for the visits from my old coworkers.
We plan to do the March for Babies walk at the end of the month.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
