Over the past 8 years, we have raised over $20,000 to support the March of Dimes and its quest to prevent premature birth. Ryan's younger sister, Audrey, is just as much an important part of the picture above. Not only did the March of Dimes play a key role in the medical treatment that was available during the first critical weeks of Ryan's life, but we were truly grateful to have taken advantage of several preventative measures supported by the March of Dimes to give us the best opportunity possible to carry Audrey to 37.1 weeks which is considered FULL-TERM. We continue to share our story below because the memories of Ryan's birth will remain with us forever, and we know that each and every dollar can help change the outcome of future births.
This cause is extremely near and dear to our hearts as Ryan was born over 2 months before his expected due date, only weighing 3 lbs 9 oz. He spent 35 days in the NICU at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was delivered, and it was the 5 longest weeks of our entire lives. In about 4 of every 10 prematurity cases, the causes of premature birth are unknown. We also do not have a definitive answer as to why this happened. We are incredibly lucky with the outcome of both Ryan's premature birth and Audrey's full-term birth, and there is no doubt that March of Dimes is partly responsible for this. We also know that there are many families that have not been so fortunate, and by raising awareness we can help make a difference in the future. Please join us in supporting our March for Babies and giving back just a little for the 2 priceless lives in which we are beyond grateful. Thank you, Mike, Kristin, Ryan & Audrey
