1 in 9 babies are born prematurely in the United States. Our little Virginia fits into a small percentage of these premature babies that are born at the edge of viability. Virginia fought hard to overcome many obstacles during her 124 day NICU stay and continues to amaze us with her hard work and spunk each and every day. The March of Dimes has helped lead the way in research and outreach to prevent and treat premature birth, as well as to support those affected by premature birth. The March of Dimes was the first place we turned to for information and support when we were awaiting and preparing for the impending birth of our sweet Virginia. We benefitted not only by this information but also the March of Dimes NICU family support program. Most of all, the research funded by the March of Dimes has helped transform treatment for premature babies. Our outcome would certainly have been different without this critical research. As a way of expressing our gratitude for their support during our stay at Yale New Haven Hospital and the life saving measures that their organization's funding helped develop, we walk each year at the March for Babies event. If you are local to us in Connecticut, please consider joining our team on May 7th in Fairfield. If you can't walk with us, please help by donating to our team. Any donation makes a difference and is so greatly appreciated. 77 cents of every dollar go directly to the research and support that has already changed our lives. Thank you for helping us give all babies a healthy start!
