In 1980 a partnership was developed between Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and March of Dimes through the Project Alpha Program. This was done to reduce teen pregnancy and foster learning to increase sexual awareness in young African American males. More recently, this partnership has help to bring awareness to the fact that 1 in 8 babies are born prematurely in the population as a whole while 1 in 6 are born prematurely in the African American community. Often premature babies are faced with a host of health issues as infants and throughout their lives. Money raised here is used to educate the public on the need to bring babies to full term and to assist families that must deal with these challenging health issues. The Gamma Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. team has joined thousands of compassionate teams across the country that support March for Babies. Support us in this endevor to help all moms and babies. In addition to the issues stated above, money we raise for March for Babies will help: ...support all important research for babies born too soon or with birth defects ...educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby ...provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care ...push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children. Please make your tax deductible contribution now. The babies and families thank you in advance!
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
