Please take a moment to read through this note and consider participating in the March for Babies walk, set to take place on Saturday, May 4th at NATIONALS PARK in D.C. The March of Dimes is a non-profit organization founded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938 to combat the harmful effects of polio. Through charitable donations, the March of Dimes established an aid program and funded research for vaccines. In 1955 the Salk vaccine was introduced to the world, effectively eradicating polio globally. Its original mission accomplished, the March of Dimes turned its focus to preventing infant mortality as well as promoting educational programs for mothers, funding research to uncover the genetic causes of birth defects, and raising awareness on the crisis of prematurity. The March of Dimes history and success is astonishing. Please join the Boston Properties team on Saturday, May 4th and support the annual March for Babies! BXP has put forth a small but mighty team in the past, but this year we are hoping for more participation! Pete Otteni chairs the organization's D.C. Board of Directors and has been a cornerstone of Fairfax County's fund-raising efforts for the past few years. Please join our team, represent Boston Properties, and support this worthy cause! The March is less than 4 miles and it takes place on Saturday, May 4th in D.C. at NATIONALS PARK! Registration begins at 8:30AM and the race officially starts at 10AM. There will be live music, food, refreshments, and fun for people of all ages. Please consider joining our team, and if you can't March, please donate, and donate generously. All of us are impacted in one way or another by the birth of children, whether they are born healthy or require the services of the wonderful people at the March of Dimes.
