On November 14, 2014 at 37 1/2 weeks Carter Elizabeth Drummond was born. Her mom, Tiffanney, had been experiencing problems with her blood pressure for some time and at 37 weeks they went through a battery of tests to make sure Carter's organs and functions were developed enough for delivery. The risk to Tiffanney's health was greater than the risk to Carter's health so at 37 1/2 weeks Tiffanney was induced for medical reasons. At first things seemed to be normal for the Drummond family, after all this was their third child and had been down this road a couple times. Carter was introduced to her 2 older brothers, Chase and Carson, but a short time after delivery Carter started to experience difficulty breathing. She had been born with fluid on her lungs that lead to rapid breathing and pneumothorax. After being taken to the NICU she was diagnosed with pneumonia. While in the NICU she underwent further testing and the doctors found a heart murmur that is larger than normal. Carter spent 10 days in the NICU and was released but will have ongoing doctor visits to monitor her condition. She is currently home and enjoying life with her mom, dad and two brothers. They just adore their little sister.
