Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

Graceanne Lewis Payne

Although Graceanne was so tiny and still had underdeveloped lungs at the time we brought her home, we felt blessed that she was alive after the “specialist” and so many others doubted she would live more than five minutes after birth. Multiple NICU staff members approached us as we were discharging and told us how Graceanne’s birth and drive to live had touched them and they would always remember her. Despite her bronchopulmonary dysplasia and very premature birth, her brain and heart scans remained normal. We have just celebrated her first birthday and she is developing typically now in terms of her physical status (crawling, pulling to stand, and cruising around furniture). She enjoys playing with her big sister and smiles at everyone she meets! She is truly a miracle to behold and I know that it is because of God AND the amazing technology and staff in the NICU that she is in our lives today. We are honored to share her story as well as help raise awareness for the condition that affected us, preterm premature rupture of membranes (pPROM). Thank you March of Dimes!
