This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

Meet the Booras Family

At just 30 weeks into her pregnancy, Mary Booras developed a condition known as Preeclampsia, also known as pregnancy induced hypertension. When left untreated or unsupervised by a physician, it can lead to seizures, coma and/or death. On June 8, 2003, at 31 weeks of pregnancy, Mary gave birth to a spunky 2lb. 14oz. baby girl, Isabel. Isabel spent a total of 6 weeks in the NICU, suffering from terrible reflux, which caused her to have difficulty gaining weight. As if experiencing a premature birth once in your life isn’t enough, fast forward to a little over 5 years later. On March 7, 2009, at 33 weeks and 5 days, Chris and Mary’s youngest daughter Olivia was born. She was 4lbs. 13oz., and just as feisty as her big sister! Olivia spent 10 days in the NICU. Isabel and Olivia have both grown to be happy, healthy, beautiful and strong little girls who enjoy gymnastics and dance in their free time. Mary’s experience with Isabel is what lead her into her profession as a NICU nurse at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville. It was also during this difficult time that her and her husband Chris first learned of the March of Dimes and began making donations to the local First Coast March for Babies. No family should have to go through what the Booras family went through with Isabel and Olivia. Come join Chris, Mary, Isabel and Olivia, along with many other families and companies, as they walk for stronger, healthier babies on the First Coast!
