Jennifer and Jeff Cofini of Wesley Chapel were thrilled to find out they were expecting their first child but everything changed on June 6, 2006. Dylan was born at 32 weeks weighing only 4 pounds. Within hours after being born, Dylan was transported to another hospital with a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) while his mother stayed at the current hospital. Jennifer was discharged the next day, and immediately went to the hospital to visit her baby boy. Dylan spent 4 long weeks in the NICU. After experiencing the emotional roller coaster of life with a premature newborn, the Cofinis are grateful that Dylan is now a healthy 8 year old due to the research funded by the March of Dimes.
I’m really excited to be an ambassador for the 2015 March for Babies. I hope to bring awareness to the mission of the March of Dimes. To let people know about all the wonderful things that March of Dimes provides, from Healthy pre-natal care for women, the research that is being done to help end prematurity and also that with the help of the March of Dimes so many more babies are being born healthier and the premature babies have a better chance of survival because of the work and research of The March of Dimes.
