Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

March for Babies Important Update 

Due to unforeseen circumstances, March for Babies, originally scheduled for April 27, will be postponed and rescheduled for another date. We will be back in touch to let you know the new date as soon as possible.

 

In the meantime, please continue your efforts to raise critical funds for families. We’re grateful for your support and look forward to getting together soon to celebrate all you do in the fight for all moms and babies.

The Caspers

David and Alyssa Casper joyfully welcomed their daughter, Olivia Marleau Casper, on January 7, 2022, following a smooth pregnancy. Olivia's birth took an unexpected turn, resulting in an emergency c-section due to her umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck three times. The lack of oxygen during the critical moments before resuscitation led to severe brain damage. David rushed their newborn to CHOC hospital while Alyssa recovered from the operation. Olivia underwent a 72-hour cooling process in hopes of minimizing brain damage, and the following weeks proved critical. During Olivia's six-week stay at CHOC, David remained at the hospital, documenting their journey and seeking answers for the uncertain road ahead. After her discharge, Alyssa split her time between recovering in a nearby hotel and supporting her family. The couple discovered the invaluable support of the March of Dimes during this challenging period, providing resources, answers, and a community that helped them navigate the unknown. Olivia, released on February 14, 2022, has since defied expectations, growing into a thriving toddler who loves music, dance, animals, and outdoor activities—thanks to the combined care of CHOC and the invaluable support of the March of Dimes.
