After trying for four years to get pregnant, finally Kipp & Jennifer heard what they had longed and prayed to hear, “your pregnant”. On the first try with in vitro fertilization, not only were they pregnant with one, but with twin boys. Unfortunately the pregnancy was not easy. Jennifer was put on bed rest and in and out of hospital starting at 23 weeks. At 31 weeks, Andrew & Jake were born via emergency C-section weighing 3 lbs. 15 oz. and 3 lbs. 14 oz. Jake was in the NICU for 2 months and Andrew was in for 4 months. Andrew was diagnosed with Lissencephaly, which means “smooth brain” and is a rare brain formation disorder. After eight long and hard months, Andrew gained his wings on September 2, 2014. The Stone family has had to endure what no family should have to. Not only the roller coaster ride of emotions in the NICU and their babies fighting for their lives, but having to say “until we meet again” to their son. Today, Jake, the other twin, is doing remarkably well. The family is so thankful to the doctors, nurses and March of Dimes for their continued research on the causes and solutions of preterm birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
