Meet Ian
At our first ultrasound, we found out that our baby had a single umbilical artery, and he had stopped growing in utero. Our 1 lb. 14 oz. baby boy, Ian, was delivered at 31 weeks.
<p>
Ian went back and forth from the NICU to the step down unit for the next few months. Within that time we found other genetic differences and a host of health issues. After about 5 ½ months in the hospital we were able to bring him home… only to come back a month later with a missed diagnosis of severe pulmonary hypertension.
<p>
We were given the options of maintaining his status longer, getting a lung transplant, or letting him go. We KNEW he was still fighting. We KNEW we had to keep fighting for him.
<p>
With the help of all the medication, his amazing doctors and nurses, the support of all our family and friends, and his own determination and perseverance, HE MADE IT THROUGH!
<p>
Ten months after he was born, we all went home again! This time with a trache and a ventilator in an ambulance surrounded by a whole team of nurses to help us out around the clock.
<p>
Today, Ian is a very energetic and playful little boy. He is in kindergarten and loves to play with our dog and antagonize his big sister. He still has some health and sensory issues to overcome, but to have him with us is nothing short of a miracle.
