The Shultz Family
We are delighted to introduce Ren Schultz and her husband, the proud parents of Nova, as our 2024 March for Babies Ambassador Family for Oklahoma.
Their journey began on Thanksgiving Day 2020 with the joyful news of Ren's pregnancy. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, they shared their excitement virtually with loved ones, including a Zoom gender reveal announcing they were expecting a baby girl named Nova.
However, Ren encountered complications during her pregnancy in early 2021, including severe back pain and loss of appetite, which were later diagnosed as a UTI. Despite treatment, further challenges arose during an anatomy scan in March, revealing a leak in Ren's amniotic sac at just 18 weeks. Ren was admitted to St. John's hospital in April for close monitoring, hoping to delay delivery until at least 34 weeks.
Nova arrived prematurely on June 6, 2021, at 32 weeks, via emergency C-section. She spent two months in the NICU, where she astounded everyone with her resilience and progress each day, supported by a dedicated team of doctors and nurses.
Ren, her family, and Nova's story exemplify the strength and hope that March of Dimes stands for. We are honored to have them share their journey with us, raising awareness and support for families facing similar challenges.
