ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES
Our Run and March for Babies Kankakee County was a wonderful success! Fitness Teams joined our mission this year to make our event the largest ever! Over 500 chipped & timed runners competed for medals and fun. 500 more walkers showed their support with amazing fundraising efforts. Currently, our efforts are trending above $100,000 to help reduce infant mortality, birth defects and prematurity. Let's keep going and break more records still this year. You may still register to support our goal or send donations to our Division office at 310 N. Hammes Ave, Suite 302D Joliet, IL 60435. If you have not seen your photo finish as a runner, copy and past this URL in your search bar http://results.chronotrack.com/event/results/event/event-14012?lc=en

*The total amount displayed reflects the amount on the team or personal fundraising progress bar. If the progress bar is not displayed on the team or personal page, the team/person
won't be displayed on the leaderboard. Leaderboard totals reflect cash and checks marked "received" on the online sponsor form as well as credit card and PayPal donations. Team
captains can enter as cash and mark "received" any money raised through promotions, such as bake sales and casual days and any sponsorship money paid to the March of Dimes,
on their team's online form. Record all donations on your online sponsor form before you turn in cash and checks to the March of Dimes!
Our ambassador
Lucas Edwards
Lucas Edwards
Born early at 28 weeks in 2003, weighing just 1 lb. 11oz., Lucas Edwards spent 5 total months in a newborn intensive care unit (NICU) in two separate hospitals. After a complicated pregnancy, Lucas was diagnosed with Asymmetrical IUGR due to a placental infarction at 32 gestational weeks. However, after an emergency Cesarean section birth to help his survival, the doctors adjusted his age to 28 weeks. He was intubated, an umbilical line was placed and he was given surfactant to help develop his tiny lungs. After 7 months he was able to eat by mouth and enjoy a bottle and cereal.
Today Lucas is a high honor roll student and plays baseball, basketball and soccer. He had one full year of perfect attendance at school last year. He did have some sensory issues in his earlier school years but they seem to have resolved. Prematurity side affects have left Lucas with an idiopathic toe walk, but it does not stop him from MARCHING FORWARD!
The Edwards Family deeply appreciates the work of the March of Dimes and how it has affected Lucas and their family!
