October 2006 our daughter-in-law, Jessica, and our son, Patrick, learned of her first pregnancy. In November she found out she was carrying twins. In January it was determined the twins were a boy and a girl. They named the babies William Robert "Beau" and Haley Brooke. On February 3, 2007, Beau and Haley were stillborn. It was the 21st week of the pregnancy. Soon after, our family joined the March of Dimes and the efforts to prevent premature births and supporting the goal to give every baby a healthy start. Today Jessica and Patrick are blessed with three sons who were all born from full term pregnancies, very healthy and very happy. Nolan will be 7 this year, Dean will be 5 and Wesley will be 3. Caris' daughter Ayla will be 2 this spring. We are thankful for the support and research provided by March of Dimes and their sponsors, volunteers and community leaders.
one day... all babies will be born healthy
today... too many moms and families know the heartbreak of having a baby born fighting to survive
I've joined March for Babies because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will help:
- support all-important research offering prevention and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children
