Hi, thanks for coming to our team page. My name is Betty and I was born prematurely at 34 weeks and 5 days. My mom had severe preeclampsia and in order for the doctors to make sure we both were as a healthy as could be- I needed to make my entrance 6 weeks early (10/2/24)!
I spent 31 days in the NICU with 9 days of respiratory support. After I learned to breathe on my own, I had to learn to eat, breath, and swallow! That part took the longest.
After I graduated from the NICU, my family excitedly welcomed me home. My big brother, David, was waiting to meet me for one whole month!
Since I have been home, I have been gaining weight and learning so many things. Now (Feb 2025) I am about 4.5 months old. My favorite things to do are snuggle, play with my brother, coo, see my family, and watch Wicked!
I am grateful for all of the support I have had since I’ve been born- from my family, friends, doctors, NICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and PT/OT/ and speech therapists. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. So today I ask you to help bring awareness to premature babies and their families.
With love,
Betty and family
