We walk for Grace.
Our beautiful daughter Grace was born perfectly imperfect. Born at just 37 weeks exactly, she is our tiny peanut and warrior. Grace required lifesaving emergency surgery not even 24 hours into life. We then spent the next four months in the NICU growing, learning, getting stronger and becoming the sweet little girl that she is today.
Her story is not linear, and we continue to have to fight a battle we never expected but you would never know what that strong baby girl goes through on a daily basis.
3 major surgeries, 17 dilations, a feeding tube and all the OT/PT/Speech therapies; we are no strangers to the hospital setting. But nothing can ever truly prepare you for a stay in the NICU. The type of helplessness you feel watching your child fight for their life every single day. We will forever be grateful and appreciative for all of the nurses and doctors who helped Grace and continue to still help her to this day. They saved her life and gave us a second chance; Grace is the final piece to our little family.
We were fortunate enough to have met some of the other families that were also in the NICU during our stay. So, we not only walk for Grace, but we walk for every single one of those families still enduring the fight.
