In the early hours of Thursday, October 26, 2023 we welcomed our son, Lucas, at just 32 weeks after a quick onset diagnosis of severe superimposed preeclampsia, coupled with the discovery of a severe blood flow restriction from the placenta. While our medical team was originally attempting to closely monitor the preeclampsia to get us to at least 34 weeks, the discovery of the blood flow restriction was the true cause of his early arrival, as waiting likely would have resulted in tragedy. Never in our wildest dreams, would we have ever imagined we'd become parents to a preemie/NICU baby. But we did, and so have many others before us, as will many others after us.
Our team, March for Lucas! is part of the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk.
