This April marks the 20th year that my family, friends and I have partnered with the Greater Philly March of Dimes in their efforts to address the urgent maternal and infant health crisis in the U.S.
Watch my story on YouTube.
Our team formed in 2006 in memory of my daughter Mary, who entered and left this world on October 25, 2005. Unfortunately, my experience and heartache is not unique. The U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for families of color. Every year in the U.S., approximately 360,000 babies are born too soon and 22,000 babies die. And every 12 hours in the U.S., a woman dies as a result of complications from pregnancy.
Our team is on track to achieve a significant fundraising milestone - $500,000 (that's right, half a million dollars) since we formed, our team - In Mary's Memory. We march in Mary's memory to help end preventable maternal health risks and deaths, end preventable preterm birth rates and infant deaths and close the health equity gap in the US. Every dollar helps. Please send us good thoughts for good weather - and your money too!
With gratitude, Lynn (Mary's mommy)
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
