The work that March of Dimes does is important to me because March of Dimes had an impact on my life in 2021.

In February 2021, when I was in the second trimester of my third pregnancy, I had a feeling that something wasn't right. My baby wasn't as active and I felt weaker than usual on my daily walk, so I called the nurseline at my OB's office. There was a snowstorm coming, and I wanted to be sure things were ok before we were snowed in, so on a busy meeting-filled workday, I stepped away for the afternoon to visit the nurse. By the evening, I was checked into the hospital, on medications for my unborn baby and my newfound pre-eclampsia, and was informed that I'd be delivering my baby by the end of the weekend. I was 25 weeks pregnant and in complete disbelief.

Fast forward to March 2025: we just celebrated our daughter Mae's (or, as she prefers to be called, “Elsa's”) fourth birthday, and we're constantly in awe of Mae's adventurous spirit, wild imagination, and fun loving personality. Her 127 day stay in the NICU feels like a distant memory. The days of sitting by her isolette, wishing we could do more for our 1.3lb little girl, and discussing oxygen levels, medications, and blood transfusions with her neonatologists are now part of our past, and we're happy to be onto the next chapter of Mae's healthy, happy life.

This experience opened my eyes to the risk that pregnancy poses to mothers and babies. With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help.
