On November 20, 2020, my sister-in-law went into preterm labor with her twin sons due to preeclampsia and some other health issues. Unfortunately, one of the twins did not make it; the other stayed in NICU for several weeks.
On November 28, 2020, my sorority sister Angel bore her first child 13 weeks early. He weighed in at 1 lb, 13 oz. 13.75" long. He was unable to breathe on his own and spent 174 days in the NICU (1 week shy of SIX months).
Over 25 years ago, my eldest nephew was born at 25 weeks weighing a little over a pound. He sustained numerous surgeries and health assessments throughout his life.
All three of my nephews are thriving in part due to the care they've received at facilities that are dedicated to ensuring that babies, moms AND dads receive the care and concern they deserve during what can be a very emotionally taxing time.
I've been supporting March for Babies consistently for several years as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. because I know firsthand what their research truly means in the fight for premature babies and maternity health. Every year, I do my part to help raise awareness and contribute to the cause.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
