Why I march

Many of you know I’ve been a dedicated supporter and volunteer with the March of Dimes for years, serving most of that time as a team captain for my chapter, Tau Alpha Zeta, in Richton Park, IL. This year, I am honored for my appointment in a more significant role as the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated State of Illinois Co-Chair. What many may not know, however, is that my commitment to this cause is deeply personal.

When my daughter was born, she had to be placed in the NICU a few hours after an emergency C-section. What should have been a time of maternal bliss was instead filled with fear, uncertainty, and anxiety. My faith was tested in ways I had never experienced before. But through it all, I remained steadfast, and I thank God—then and now—for the challenges that strengthened me. I am beyond grateful that our child was able to come home in good health within a week.

However, not all families share the same outcome. Many endure much more extended hospital stays, ongoing medical concerns, and unimaginable hardships. This reality is why I have spent the past seven years actively volunteering and raising funds for the March of Dimes—to support those families in their time of need.

As a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, I am honored to contribute to our national partnership with the March of Dimes, which has lasted over 50 years.

Thank you to those of you who have supported me on this journey. Your generosity means more than words can express. This year, I wanted to share my personal story to resonate with others who have experienced, or know someone who has experienced, the challenges of difficult childbirth.
I invite you to donate to my March of Dimes campaign this year. Together, we can continue to bring hope to families in need.

We are happy to receive your donation of $5, $10, $20, and $50; every donation helps us reach our goal.  Please join me with your financial support using the following link:

When you participate, you're helping to end preventable maternal and infant health risks, end preterm birth, and close the health equity gap by funding March of Dimes' vital resources such as:

* Providing programs like NICU Family Support® for families with a baby in the NICU, and promoting healthy pregnancies with Supportive Pregnancy Care®.
* Delivering prenatal care where it's needed most with March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers®.
* Funding research and innovation to address the most pressing maternal and infant health challenges.
* Educating healthcare professionals and families with information such as our Low Dose, Big Benefits™ campaign to inform about how low-dose aspirin can support cardiovascular health.
* Advocating for legislation that protects all moms, pregnant people, and babies.

Thank you for letting me share my story today. I wanted to let you know that I had to sit down for a bit and let God work, and I’m back and better!

Sincerely,
Robin

WE NEED TO UNITE, CONNECT AND FIGHT FOR FAMILIES

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.

At March for Babies you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.

Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
